Better said with bolder letters. It can be natural, especially for a beginner calligrapher, to want to be able to calligraph just like someone else and do exactly what they do. But that is not something to strive for as a calligrapher or artist, especially one who is in business. Being inspired and influenced by someone is wonderful, but it's your unique style that will make people seek you out- not how well you copy someone else's style. Creators work hard to evolve their style, and it comes from within them, from their hearts, their guts, their life experiences- how can that be duplicated?
Whether or not you're in business, go your own way. Don't get too caught up on what someone teaches on Periscope or Instagram- it may not be right for you. Learn from others, but don't impede your creativity or progress by taking the words of someone with 10k followers as gospel. Do what you enjoy and do what makes you feel content as a creator. We are all capable of unique and beautiful things. Over and out.
